Martigney

For a break from training we visited a little town called Martigny.  It contains the road over the Great Saint Bernard Pass to Italy.  They had a Saint Bernard museum where one can learn about breeding history and things.  Turns out, they were used as rescue dogs loyal to monks.  Fun fact: They would have barrels of brandy around their necks to warm the victims they found.   We also visited the Pierre Gianadda Foundation which included an automobile museum, the Louis and Evelyn Frank Collection, a Gallo-Roman museum and a sculpture park.  So random I know.  The city had a unique feel, almost as random as the museum, small town, modern, classic and a mix between France, Italy and Switzerland.
